Students and enthusiasts of Karate have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense.

The study of Isshinryu Karate is an excellent means of self-development both mentally and physically. The main objective is the perfection of one's self. A serious student develops in a short time self-defense, serenity and the ability to concentrate. Self-defense, the enjoyment of learning the Art, and the well rounded exercise program are other reasons for the study of Isshinryu. While all forms of karate are good, Isshinryu has some important advantages over other styles.
1. SPEED: There are no wasted motions in Isshinryu. Kicks and punches are thrown from natural stances, giving you split second advantages over other styles.
2. VERSATILITY: You are equally proficient with your hand & feet; you have no weak points.
3. REALISTIC: Since most real fighting is done at very close range, you usually do not have the luxury of space for elaborate wind-up taught by other styles. Isshinryu stresses "close in" techniques to enable you to strike & kick effectively from short distances.
4. SENSIBLE: Only the snap punch, snap kick techniques allow you to move in & out quickly, without committing yourself to a disadvantaged position, should you miss or misjudge.
5. ADAPTABLE: Isshinryu is more adaptable to the American physique and temperment.
INTRODUCTORY KARATE PROGRAM
We offer an introductory program for new students to attend one month of classes and get a FREE karate uniform for $19.95. Students are children age 6 and up, teens and adults can attend 2 classes per week based on our regular class schedule. After one month they join our regular unlimited class schedule.
Our SWAT Team is our Special Winning Attitude Team. These are an elite group of students chosen by Sensei Rigby because they have good leadership ability and are good role models for other students, including the Storm Team members. They are expected to help out in classes with the lower ranking students and participate in demonstrations arranged by Sensei Rigby

Our STORM Team is our Special Team of Role Models. These are a group of younger students chosen by Sensei Rigby because they have the potential to be good leaders and are good role models for other students. As they gain experience, they will someday be SWAT Team members.

This program is geared to teaching Isshinryu Karate to 4 and 5 year old students. Classes meet one time per week for one half hour. These classes teach karate techniques including KID SMART information to the younger children. Kids learn to use Karate for self defense only. They learn how to develop self-discipline. They learn how to use listening skills. They learn how a good karate students shows respect to parents and teachers. Their concentration improves..and they have FUN!
"It's a kick-butt sweat pouring, bag slamming, aggression releasing, power punching,workout for the "bored with the spa scene" raging kickboxer deep inside us!
Cardio Kickboxing is sweeping the country because it gives you all the fun stuff in Karate (Kicking, Punching, Getting In Shape) without any of the serious stuff (Uniforms, belts, breaking concrete blocks with your head, etc.) Our instructors will have you breaking a serious sweat (without breaking any boards) and you'll learn some serious self-defense techniques without yelling any Japanese words. It's hard work, but it's the most fun way to get in shape ever! And unlike a treadmill, learning Cardio Kickboxing will get you somewhere!
T'ai Chi Ch'uan is an ancient Chinese slow motion exercise for health, self defense, mental accomplishment and spiritual development. The name T'ai Chi Chu'uan signifies the harmonious balance and ultimate unity of opposing forces in the universe.
Classes typically begin with light stretching and breathing exercises (Ch'i Kung) before proceeding to the solo form. Comprised of 150 continuous movements, the form incorporates all of the principles and techniques of T'ai Chi. The bulk of the class time is spent here. Students progress at their own pace, in a non-competitive atmosphere.
